Melissa grew up in Farmington, New Mexico where she graduated with honors from Farmington High School in 1994. Melissa moved to Columbia, Missouri in 1996 to continue her education. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Cum Laude, with an emphasis in Accounting & Business Management from Columbia College, in 2000.
Melissa attended the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law where she received her Juris Doctorate in 2003, along with her Certificate in Tax. After passing the Bar and receiving her license to practice in the State of Missouri in the fall of 2003, Melissa continued her employment at the firm of Stan Clay, LLC which later became known as Clay, Kline & Faurot. In 2009, Melissa left private practice for a short period of time to serve as Legal Counsel for the Juvenile Office of the 13th Judicial Circuit in Boone County, Missouri. In 2010, Melissa returned to private practice with the firm of Clay, Kline and Young and in 2012 she transitioned to the firm of Harper, Evans, Wade & Netemeyer where she became a partner and was able to continue her focus on specializing in family law. Prior to opening Faurot Family Law, Melissa also served as a Special Prosecutor for Randolph County.
Melissa was thrilled when she was presented with the opportunity in June 2020 to transition into her new private practice, Faurot Family Law, where she takes pride in her logo, and many services she provides to families in need. At Faurot Family Law, Melissa specializes in domestic cases including but not limited to divorces cases, custody cases, modifications of prior judgments, adoptions, mediations as well as serving as a guardian ad litem and parent-coordinator.
Melissa resides in Boone County with her husband, children, and four dogs. Melissa also currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors for Rainbow House and has been a dedicated member of this organization since June 2012.
